ABOUT LIOR

Two Liors. One problem nobody solved.

Lior Illouz spent years at Meta and living abroad in Singapore before marrying his wife Yael at 38, recently becoming a first-time father. Within months he found himself stuck: he couldn’t understand her, couldn’t understand himself in it, and had nowhere useful to turn. Every great platform he had worked around solved complex problems at scale. Relationships hadn’t been touched.

So he called two people he trusted most. His childhood friend Dr. Lior Kritzman, a clinical psychologist with a PhD, became the scientific backbone: CBT, ACT, and Attachment Theory, real methodology rather than guesswork. Then came Daphna Ofek, who joined because she personally connected with the mission. She has built B2C products used by over a billion people, as CPO at Rakuten Viber and product leader at Waze.

Daphna’s husband is also named Lior. Two building the app, one hearing about it every evening.

Today, Bonds has 10,000+ users and a 4.8-star App Store rating.

Episode Ideas

Four topics. Four audiences.

Each idea includes a title, what the conversation covers, and one concrete thing your listeners walk away with.

1
Relationship Psychology
The Small Things That End Relationships (And How to See Them Coming)

Most couples don’t fight about what they think they’re fighting about. This conversation unpacks the recurring communication patterns that predict relationship breakdown, including the psychology-backed approach Bonds uses to help people catch them early, before the explosion.

💡 Listener Takeaway

Why the best co-founder dynamic often mirrors the problem you’re actually trying to solve.

2
AI & Consumer Tech
What I Learned Building an AI App for the Most Personal Category in the World
Intimacy is one of the hardest problems to solve with technology. Lior shares what it actually takes to build AI that earns trust in an emotionally sensitive space, and why psychology and product design must co-create from day one if you want users to let the tech anywhere near their relationships.
💡 Listener Takeaway

A framework for building AI products where the stakes are deeply human, not just functional.

3
Founder Journey
Building With Your Best Friend: When a Founder Meets a Scientist
Lior co-founded Bonds with his longtime friend Dr. Lior Kritzman, a clinical psychologist with a PhD. This conversation explores how the founder-scientist partnership actually works, what each brings that the other can’t, and why their friendship shaped the product in ways no investor deck could have predicted.
💡 Listener Takeaway
Why the best co-founder dynamic often mirrors the problem you’re actually trying to solve
4
Faith & Relationships
Why We Built a Relationship App Specifically for the Faith Community
Faith communities care deeply about healthy relationships, but mainstream relationship tech wasn’t built with their values or language in mind. Lior shares why Bonds created Blessed by Bonds, a version of the app that ties relationship habits and conversations directly to Biblical stories and verses, giving faith-based couples relevant, grounded guidance rather than generic advice.
💡 Listener Takeaway

How to make relationship growth feel spiritually relevant, not just behaviorally practical, for couples in your community.
